works great August 3, 2010 Michael Pimentel (CA, USA) Im actually using this for my old Super Nintendo. I wanted something to give me a better picture and S-video was the way to go. Unfortunatly, the vast majority of the ones you see out there are cruddy 3rd party ones that are very poor quality. Since this is old i got it at a good price. Monster cables are great quality, but way overpriced.
Since the official s-video cables impossible to find anymore this is probably the next best thing at a reasonable price! The picture is great,a nd my old games are crisp with well defined lines and vivid colors
Good Quality cable September 12, 2009 T. W. Gaskill (Leo, Indiana United States) Good quality and well constructed cable. Made a big difference in the quality of the video output(as compared to the standard video hook-up). A "must buy" for gamecube owners.
A good SNES cable September 2, 2009 J. Helkala (Tampere, Finland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this cable because I needed something for my PAL SNES. The colours are very crisp and clear (At least on my Samsung SyncMaster 215TW) and the sound is good as well. Individual pixels can be distinguished perfectly. However, this cable works horrible for the PAL N64. The colours are impossibly washed out and overbright, you can barely distinguish colours from each other. PAL Gamecube doesn't give any S-Video output at all, do make note of this. All in all, it does half of what I bought it for excellently.
BIG Difference August 22, 2009 B. Brown (PA) MUCH clearer than standard A/V cables with nicer color as well. I see little details I never noticed before.
Good replacements... if you need em". March 10, 2009 Cyrus The One (Santa Barbara, CA USA) I bought these cables because the component cables for the Gamecube can no longer be found at a decent price. I figured S-Video cables should still provide as clean an image as anything. But, in all honesty... I am disappointed. I paid about $10 for mine, which I think is a fair price, but I'm just not seeing that great of a difference in image quality. I'm kind of wishing I had just stuck with the composite cables that come with the system. Honestly, the Gamecube never really had problems in the graphics area, so no matter what cables you use, it should still look good.
At best, I would say that these cables would be a good replacement for existing worn-out composite cables. Other than that, save your money and buy a Wii which will play Gamecube games in 480p progressive scan mode.
