Amazon.com Product Description Resident Evil, the game that is often credited with starting the survival-horror genre, is being reinvented for the GameCube. For those unfamiliar with the series, a mysterious corporation has secretly been performing ungodly biotech experiments in the sleepy little town of Raccoon City. When reports of gory attacks come in from nearby areas, two crack military squads are sent to investigate. Players take the role of either sharpshooter Chris Redfield or demolitions expert Jill Valentine to track down the source of the town's problems--specifically, something in a decaying mansion that's mutating animals into grotesque killers and turning humans into bloodthirsty zombies. Supplies and ammunition are scarce, so players have to know when to fight, when to run, and how to keep their wits about them. Players can't afford to waste their shots and expect their characters to survive. The story is being retrofitted with motion-captured animation, next-generation graphics, real-time lighting and shadow effects, new areas, and newly rendered in-game video segments to create an even more cinematic experience. Also, a redesigned combat system lets players attack and defend themselves with a variety of items found in the environment.
Product Description Resident Evil takes you into the heart of terror as you battle the unthinkable -- the walking dead.

I guess it's ok November 9, 2009 Mark D. Andrews RE1 is same on wii so mostly, i have played it before. The game starts you of with Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine. The game is cool, but the start is annoying. The reason is if you pick Chris, the only weapon he carries is a wimpy knife. The other thing annoying is when Barry tells you to split up and look, you can't go through the doors until you "look around" and go back to Barry. The other thing that bothers me is you can't leave things behind like RE0 lets you do. Still, the graphics are good and the game is fun, but it's not the best game.
Better than the Origional October 18, 2009 M. Norris 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is awesome and the seller ships very fast. This remake of the origional is even scarrier because if you don't burn the zombie bodies then zombies come back to life and they are faster than you and twice as powerful. It makes you nervous walking into a room you havn't been in for a while because you are wondering if you burned the bodies last time you were there. Overall great game my fav for the gamecube.
This is no fun! September 27, 2009 Winston Fraser (Trinidad (West Indies)) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game makes me mad, i have played Resident evil 0,2,4 and code Veronica so i had different expectations from this game, the graphics are great and the puzzles keeps within the Resident evil tradition. What gets me the most is there seem to be no true direction in this version it's almost like being completely clueless, unless you cheat and use a game faqs guide you will have to start over a couple of times to get the flow of this game. Believe me you are always running! Your handgun with 15 shots can't take out a regular zombie dam! everything is scarce this is no fun, it will stay in my collection but! note this has no replay value and definitely not as a favorite of mine. I find the weapons to be pathetic, maybe because i have played Resident evil 4 before this version anyhow am not impressed by the game play laterz folks.
remake May 28, 2009 B. E Jackson (Pennsylvania) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Maybe I had the wrong idea going in, but I was expecting a whole lot more than what the game delivered. Yes, the graphics are drastically improved, the voice acting has been cleaned up and sounds MUCH better compared to the original PS1 and Sega Saturn versions, and the game did a fine job building atmosphere, which in turn gives off a LOT of spooky feelings for the player.
But I don't know, I just feel the game could have been even better. It's not really more FUN to play compared to Resident Evil 2 and 3, and I think that's my biggest problem- it's just not a very fun game to play compared to the other popular games in the series. I was expecting the fun factor to increase more than it did.
Plus, I KNOW it can be argued "this is how it's supposed to be" because this Remake is supposed to do everything the original did and improve upon it, but it's rather frustrating having enemies constantly attack you, even when you plan ahead and prepare for them. It gives off the feeling you're never good enough no matter how many times you attempt the same areas trying not to take a hit- you will get hit either way. Just a challenging game all around.
Still, not a bad game by any means.
Excelent May 10, 2009 Pedro Moreira (Almada, Portugal) This game is just amazing, I always had an idea that it was a great game, but you can only feel it by playing it, so atmospheric, that crazy mansion just make you nuts.
