 DVD player doesn't last February 1, 2007

I was initially happy with this TV due to its nice picture, size of unit and weight. The convenience of a DVD player built right made it look clean and less hassle with cords and hookup. I didn't use the DVD player that much but when I went to use it after the 90 day warranty, it would not read the disk. I found a repair shop and was told the whole DVD unit needed to be replaced but only the part was covered. The labor of $150.00 was not covered. I called the Sylvania company and they said "Sorry, we can't help you." I opted not to get it repaired because I could buy a DVD player for around $50.00. I would not recommend this TV.
 Excellent Value for a Great Entry Level TV August 1, 2006

I am currently in a dormitory and strapped for space. I wanted a light, small, LCD TV that could play DVDs. This combo player is perfect for its pricing and to meet the needs of a small living space while providing a decent screen size.
My only complaint is the unattractive remote controller but for purposes of practical usage, there is nothing wrong with it.
The DVD player is indeed a progressive scanner, and it even plays MP3 CDs and VCDs, which a plus for those consumers who want to utilize any single product for as many versatile uses as possible. The speakers, while the low-tones are sometimes muddled, provides a crisp sound in the mid and high tones. For those looking for MP3 playback, the bass level and detail is reasonable for a electronic product not made primarily for audiophiles.
Unlike alot of LCD TVs made at 20 inch or smaller, analog cable T.V. signals are not smeared, shaky, or dull in colour. Although admittedly digital signals looks much better for LCDs, the analog for this t.v. is watchable.
All in all, for the price, this LCD TV/DVD combo has great functionality.
TV good - DVD player broke July 24, 2006

The picture and sound for this t.v. are good, but after having it for only one month and only using it a couple of times the DVD player broke. Sometimes the DVD won't go in; sometimes it won't come out. It's a gamble every time I want to watch a movie. I took this to a warranty service center and spoke to the technician. He told me basically you get what you pay for. It wouldn't even be worth it to fix the DVD player because they have trouble getting the parts and I would have to pay the labor costs, which would be approximately $200. Some warranty! He recommended just hooking up a regular DVD player, which is what I had to do. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

The DVD player in my TV broke after 2 months. I had only used it twice.
Dealing with Funai has been stressful to say the least.
I have talked to 5 customer service reps. at their 1-800 number and two managers, and my TV that broke under the miniscule 90-day warranty is still broken.
I have spent money faxing receipts to Funai. I have spent time emailing receipts to Funai that bounced back because they gave me the wrong email addresses.
I did not have my TV for a month because it was in a local, ghetto service shop for a month. I called them after a few weeks. They told me they had ordered the part. I called them after a month, and they told me the part was not available and that I would have to call Funai. I picked my TV up from this shop because Funai said they would replace it, but now I am getting the run around from Funai when I actually call to schedule a pick-up.
My unit has been broken for 3 of the 5 months I have owned it, and I couldn't even use the functioning TV part for the month it was in the service shop NOT BEING FIXED.
And, yes, I like the TV. That is why I am so frustrated that it broke and that their service center is the so annoyingly unprofessional.
I had a mere $80 Phillips DVD player that broke and they sent me a newer model NO QUESTIONS ASKED because they didn't make mine anymore. And, I got to keep the old one!
BUY PHILLIPS INSTEAD OF FUNAI, especially if you have high blood pressure!
