| Customer Reviews: Feeling empowered! October 5, 2009 George Raymond Neill (Tampa, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you have ANY doubts about your current resume or haven't even constructed one yet, this is certainly the book to start with. Mr. Washington and Mr. Kanter do a phenomenal job of walking one through the resume writing process step-by-step. However, never does the book make the process feel too elementary. They simply lay out the foundation for what a good, concise resume is supposed to contain. Furthermore, there is still plenty of smaller 'tips and tricks' such as font type and size, indentation, etc. to help you tweak your resume and get it looking the way it ought to be. I am very grateful to have found this tool!
The Best Resume Guide I've Seen August 3, 2009 John M. Ireland (Kirkland, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This superb book is straightforward and easy to understand. It takes the reader well beyond unbeatable resume construction to improving the marketability of the reader in the job market.
Resume Empower instructs the reader on how to construct four different types of resumes, i.e. chronological, functional, qualifications/chronological and hybrid.
Model samples are included illustrating each type of resume. Different formats and a variety of fonts are shown.
There is a separate chapter on Electronic Resumes showing all you need to know about submitting your resume on the internet.
The chapter on "clustered resumes" shows a new concept developed by author, Gary Kanter. It has proven to be successful especially for job seekers who are making career changes or who have two or more distinct areas of work background.
Since I have assisted job seekers in constructing resumes, I found the chapters on "Resume Tips" and "Resume Formats" very helpful. Included are font size options, formats, and tips on limiting the resume length to two pages.
The use of job sketches in the "Employment Chapter" is very useful in starting your resume.
